A Request of My Blog Readers

2013 has nearly ended and the new year is almost upon us.  For 2014, what would you like to see on this blog?  Please leave comments and be as specific as possible.  Do you want more coverage of a certain time period (e.g. War of the Polish Succession 1733-36)?  Or do you like a certain kind of post (e.g. art galleries)?  Or are you entirely pleased with the way things are now?  Your feedback is very important to me.  Thank you!

  1. Here's a few:
    A. Colonization in the 1800s and early 1900s by larger European countries.
    B. Exploration and Dominion in the late 1400s-1600s.
    C. Economics and trade from the Materialist standpoint? (If you know of this)

  2. Hi, Jordan,

Hmm.....let's see. Well, my favorite period of study is roughly from the Tudors to the Hanoverians, so I'm always interested in little-known aspects of the English Civil Wars, the Glorious Revolution, the Jacobite Rebellions, the French and Indian War, the American Revolution, and the Napoleonic Wars.

As far as type, I personally enjoy stories about women during wartime, people who show charity to one another even when they are on opposite sides, little known personal anecdotes about famous commanders, and anything to do with religious aspects of military conflict.

You do a lot of this stuff already, and I always enjoy reading your blog! I was just going through a bunch of print-outs from it last night!

  3. Jordan,

I really like your use of paintings and art in telling history. That would probably be my top choice.

Another would be the time between 1700 to 1850 - it's not a time period we read much about.

Anyhow, keep up the good work; I do enjoy reading your blog!

    William
